A CORNER IN THE WORLD
A Corner in the World is an organization working at the intersection of arts, culture, and social sciences, creating diverse and thought-provoking curatorial content that explores timely issues through the lens of performance and its interaction with other disciplines. We are based in İstanbul and İzmir but our practice expands to various cities nationally and internationally.
Curations
Our curatorial approach is rooted in the intersection of performing arts, cultural studies, and social sciences. We create diverse, socially engaged curatorial content that explores timely issues through the possibilities of performance and its dialogue with other disciplines. Driven by impact and community engagement, our work fosters critical conversations and meaningful connections across artistic and social spheres.

Innovative Interaction
We think outside of the box and look for new ways to put things together. We create new propositions beyond the conventional by synthesizing creative ideas in interaction with various disciplines and practices.
Dynamic Plurality
With a strong belief in the exchange and interaction of disciplines, backgrounds and practices, we aim to facilitate creations in various forms, promote new voices and contribute to the cultural and artistic landscape of cities and communities.
Decentralized Internationalization
We work towards decentralizing artistic production and point to opportunities beyond conventional approaches, spaces and audiences. Our international focus is on fostering exchange, mobility and collaborations between Turkey and its surrounding regions, with which we have very few platforms to come together despite our geographical proximity.
A Corner in the World started out as an international festival for contemporary performing arts bringing together artists from Turkey and its surrounding regions, corners of the world with geographical proximity but few opportunities for mobility and collaboration.
Happening in different forms and at various intervals, the festival still represents the nucleus of our work focusing on creating a space for new and underrepresented voices and inspiring encounters spreading across territories.
A Corner in the World Festival 3:
Earth is Flat?
May 2-12, 2018
“Women have been taught that, for us, the earth is flat, and that if we venture out we will fall off the edge. Some of us ventured out nevertheless, and so far we have not fallen off. It is my faith, my feminist faith, that we will not.”
⎯ Andrea Dworkin Sometimes the Earth is flat. Sometimes, for some, it is flatter. One might fall off if they go too far. But how far is too far?

Event and Program Design
Inspired by the transformative power of interdisciplinary creativity, cultural practices, and collaboration, we design bespoke events and programs that respond to the needs of our audiences and the unique cultural contexts we work within. By actively listening and engaging with our partners and participants, we co-create meaningful experiences that foster innovation, empowerment, and impact. Our approach emphasizes shared responsibility, where ideas and expertise flow freely, ensuring every voice is heard. We aim to craft stories that spark change, build connections, and leave a lasting legacy, while fostering sustainable, transformative cultural exchange.

January 2022
This study marks our first research project commissioned by Goethe-Institut Izmir. As a team, we mapped and analyzed creative industry stakeholders in the İzmir and Antalya regions, focusing on industrial design, architectural design, gaming, extended reality (XR), and UX/UI design. The research followed four steps: desktop research, mapping survey, listening circles, and case study analysis. The final outputs included a comprehensive report and a Graph Commons map visualizing stakeholder networks and relationships in the region.

Gaziantep
We designed and implemented a Capacity Building Training Program for cultural practitioners in Gaziantep, invited by Spaces of Culture. Over two days, the program featured talks, film screenings, and mentored project development workshops. The program aimed to empower local cultural actors, increasing their impact and fostering greater engagement within the cultural landscape.
