A CORNER IN THE WORLD
A Corner in the World is an organization for curatorial practice working at the intersection of arts, culture and creative industries. We are based in İstanbul and İzmir but our practice expands to various cities nationally and internationally.
Curations
Our curatorial approach is rooted in the interaction of performing arts, cultural studies and social sciences. We create diverse curatorial content aiming to discuss timely issues through the possibilities of performance and its interaction with other disciplines.
We curate festivals and artistic programs, design collaborative events and projects including conferences, training and workshops, conduct research and create research-based content.
We are based in İstanbul and İzmir but our practice expands to various cities nationally and internationally.
Innovative Interaction
We think outside of the box and look for new ways to put things together. We create new propositions beyond the conventional by synthesizing creative ideas in interaction with various disciplines and practices.
Dynamic Plurality
With a strong belief in the exchange and interaction of disciplines, backgrounds and practices, we aim to facilitate creations in various forms, promote new voices and contribute to the cultural and artistic landscape of cities and communities.
Decentralized Internationalization
We work towards decentralizing artistic production and point to opportunities beyond conventional approaches, spaces and audiences. Our international focus is on fostering exchange, mobility and collaborations between Turkey and its surrounding regions, with which we have very few platforms to come together despite our geographical proximity.
Event and Program Design
Our event and program design approach focuses on interdisciplinary creative and cultural practices and collaboration. We work with various partners to design tailor-based events and programs with an innovative approach.

We designed and implemented the Cultural Management Programme for Spaces of Culture in İzmir, Diyarbakır and Gaziantep.
The program brings artists, cultural operators and creative stakeholders in Izmir, Diyarbakir, Gaziantep and the neighboring provinces together with the larger national and international cultural and civil society environment. Built around interactivity through lectures, talks, workshops and other encounters, the program will create a platform for learning, experience sharing and connecting with international and local experts in the field.
Cultural management has been undergoing major transformations as the shift of the role and impact of culture and arts have accelerated with the pandemic. The dynamics of this new era calls for new insights, methodologies and skills to bring about new ways of collaborating, resource-management and public engagement. With these in mind, this year’s program will explore innovative approaches to cultural management, providing participants with hands-on experience on end-to-end project development, management and implementation tools in the guidance of a facilitator. The program will focus on key issues of cultural management and current issues in the social and cultural context, including topics ranging from research, content development, networking and strategic communication to the impact of digital transformation on culture.
In the course of the 3-day programs in each city, a total of 45 selected participants get a chance to improve their operational and conceptual capacities through workshops and lectures by prominent local and international trainers as well as receive mentorship to develop their own projects. On the other hand, the program creates a space for international discourse through the participation of professionals from Sweden, the Netherlands, Germany and France, and a chance for self-reflection and learning.
